Samir S. Shah
Samir Shah has over 20 years of various industry experience. Currently he is working as an Enterprise Architect for Oracle Corporation, participating in several key customer cloud and big data transformations. Samir has a deep and wide breadth of technology background as a developer, database administrator and cloud infrastructure specialist. Prior to joining Oracle, he was a Director Enterprise Architecture at Microsoft and Director of Oracle and Microsoft Solutions at VCE (EMC, Cisco and VMware joint venture), where he focused on hybrid cloud solutions. DBA TRACK: Database 12c Architecture and New Features

The new features that have been introduced to date as well as the different deployment options that we have. Martin Millstam
Martin Millstam has worked for Oracle Corporation for 6 years, both in EMEA and North America. Previous to working for Oracle Martin managed Oracle and SQL Server based ERP systems for Intertek in Europe. Martin has a Bachelor of Computer Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.

Marc Sewtz
Marc Sewtz is a Senior Software Development Manager at Oracle Corporation in New York City. With over twenty years of industry experience, Marc held roles in Consulting, Sales and Product Development and manages a global team of Software Developers and Product Managers in the Oracle Application Express (APEX) development team, part of the Oracle Database Tools group. Marc and his team are responsible for product features such as the Oracle Application Express User Interface and Theme infrastructure, Mobile development, Dynamic Actions, Reporting, Charting, Tabular Forms and PDF printing. Marc has a Master’s degree in computer science from the University of Applied Sciences in Wedel, Germany.

James Morle
James Morle has been working in the high performance database market for 25 years, most of which has been spent working with the Oracle database. After 15 years running Scale Abilities in the UK, he now leads the Oracle Solutions at DSSD/EMC in Menlo Park.
DEVELOPER TRACK: JAVA and Oracle 12c – The good, better and best
The Oracle database language du jour is primarily PL/SQL and SQL. However, as many third party vendors create more shareware for software development it sometimes becomes quite difficult to stay within the pl/sql SQL mix. JAVA, on the scene since 1978 has become the language that is used quite extensively in Oracle developmental database as well as third party software. The author will explore basic fundamentals compiling using JAVA in Oracle 12c as well as examples that the audience may try themselves.
Coleman Leviter
Coleman Leviter is employed as an Oracle Database Developer at Arrow Electronics. He has presented at IOUG’s Collaborate and at Oracle Open World. He is on the IOUG Board of Directors (ioug.org). He is Vice President at NY Oracle Users’ Group (www.nyoug.org). His articles have been published in Select Journal and OTDUG Journal. He has worked in the financial services industry and the aerospace industry where he developed Navigation, Flight Control and Reconnaissance software for the F-14D Tomcat. I will be talking about the new trends in the industry with People storing more and more data. IOT is starting to create more data in fields that were previously never reporting / storing data such as people’s footsteps etc. I am going to then discuss what challenges that poses and how we can help solve these challenges; what are our options and tools to address these situations. We will be talking about everything from distributed computing,
Open source tools, Hadoop/Spark and security of data.
Anant Asthana
Anant is a Principal Architect and Data Scientist at Pythian. He is a thought leader in the Big Data space. His experience ranges from Hadoop/Spark based technology to traditional RDBMs systems.
DBA TRACK: Experience as a Multitenant DBA
Oracle Multitenant option allows you consolidate multiple databases into a single one. But most DBAs find the idea of managing a multitenant environment daunting. In this session you will learn what the speaker—a real word DBA user—did to be a DBA in a multitenant environment and used the tools, features and techniques always used–backup/recovery using RMAN, ASM, security, RAC, Data Guard, Cloud Control, EM Express
and everything else. As this session will explain, there is little change to your understanding to manage a multitenant database—both as a CDBA and a PDBA.
Arup Nanda
Ja Arup Nanda has been an Oracle DBA for over 20 years with experience spanning all aspects from Modeling to performance tuning and Exadata. He speaks frequently, has authored about 300 articles, co-authored 5 books, blogs at arup.blogspot.com and mentors new and seasoned DBAs. He won Oracle’s DBA of the Year in 2003, Enterprise Architect of the Year in 2012, is an ACE Director and a member of Oak Table Network.
DEVELOPER TRACK: A MicroService for JSON Documents Processing using Nashorn/OJVM.
The monolithic Web application is dead; this is the era of service-based architecture, micro-services, functional/reactive programming and polyglot persistence. A modern application is an assembly of services or micro-services, each with its own implementation and persistence.
This technical session describes the steps for implementing a JavaScript data-bound micro-service for processing data directly in Oracle database. The typical use case consists in processing millions of JSON documents in place, and returning only the result sets. The session also shows how to turn such micro-service into a RESTful data service for Cloud deployment.
Kuassi Mensah
Kuassi Mensah is Director of Product Management at Oracle; his scope includes: The Quality of services of Java apps with Oracle database (Perf/Scalability, HA, Security, etc.); Hadoop and Spark integration with Oracle database; and Nashorn integration with Oracle database.
Mr. Mensah holds a MS in CS from the Programming Institute of University of Paris; he is a frequent speaker at IT events & author.
DBA TRACK: Extended distance Oracle RAC: zero downtime, high speed, only standard hardware
Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) offer unique capabilities for high-availability and local disaster recovery of mission-critical databases. Zero downtime can be achieved in cases of localized disasters by using two or three sites located up to 100km apart. Unlike replication techniques, in extended distance clusters the data is mirrored synchronously across the sites. At any given time, all locations have exact full copy of the data.
In this session you will learn how to build high-speed extended distance Oracle RAC clusters using commodity servers, commodity NVMe SSDs, and FlashGrid software.

DEVELOPER TRACK: Printing Without Printers: A Database-Centric Approach to Document Exchange and Reporting
Every organization must tackle the problem of document exchange, especially in the health care and government services arenas. Many official forms have to be filled out and processed exactly as mandated, preserving standards pixel by pixel. Reporting requirements also demand flexibility and customization without sacrificing performance and budgets. This presentation focuses on using the database for creating final documents. A number of examples from actual projects will show how PDF and Excel files can be efficiently prepared without leaving the server, as long as you use the appropriate tools and mechanisms: some home-grown (reporting repositories and XLS generators), and some developed by others
(PL/PDF, ITEXT, PL/JSON).
Michael Rosenblum & Dr. Paul Dorsey
Michael Rosenblum is a Development DBA at Dulcian, Inc. He is responsible for system tuning and application architecture and has co-authored three books about PL/SQL and database practices. Dr. Paul Dorsey is the founder and President of Dulcian, Inc. He is the co-author of eight books about the Oracle Database environment and winner of numerous user group awards.
DBA TRACK: Understanding the MySQL release cadence
MySQL as an open source product has a very different philosophy towards software product development. Users of MySQL can access to development milestone releases of MySQL and provide feedback and input of features under development and planned for a subsequent release. MySQL also has a shorter end of life (EOL) policy for generally available (GA) releases. This presentation will discuss the terms used and release cadence now in place under Oracle and will provide best practice guidelines of the upgrade path to remain current with MySQL major and minor releases. This presentation will also discuss the differing community edition updates and the regularly scheduled Monthly Rapid Update
and Quarterly Service Pack enterprise releases.

Ronald has been working with MySQL for over 15 years. He has worked in enterprise data architecture across multiple RDBMS’s including Ingres, Oracle and MySQL.
