Oracle 19c Automatic Indexing Inside & Out!

NYOUG Webinar on February 8, 2022 presented by Janis Griffin

Oracle 19c brings us a very powerful new feature for index management called ‘Automatic Indexes’. Automatic indexing requires very little effort from a DBA as it automates the creation, tests the validity and performance of indexes, removes obsolete or redundant ones, and continuously monitors their usage. In this presentation, Janis Griffin will discuss all the components of automatic indexes and what they do. The attendee will further learn how to enable/disable automatic indexing, control it at the schema-level, and see several examples of automatic indexes in action. Finally, several system views and the activity report will be shown.

Janis Griffin has over 30 years of Oracle DBA experience including design, development and implementation of many critical database applications. Before coming to Quest, Janis held DBA positions primarily in the Telecom / Network Industries, working with both real-time network routing databases and OLTP business to business applications. As an Oracle ACE, Janis has mentored other DBAs and Developers on best practices in database performance tuning.

This event is co-hosted by the New York Oracle Users Group (www.nyoug.org) and Oracle Professional Services firm, Viscosity North America (www.viscosityna.com)
